An assistant labour officer, Karne Chander, was caught red-handed by the ACB in Khammam while accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe for clearing a file related to funeral expenditure. He will be produced before the special ACB court in Warangal

Khammam: An assistant labour officer, Karne Chander, was caught red-handed by the ACB while allegedly accepting a bribe in Khammam on Monday.

The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant for moving a file related to his father’s death and sanctioning Rs 1.30 lakh towards natural death funeral expenditure of the deceased by the Telangana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

He was caught at Government Junior College while receiving the money. The tainted cash was recovered from the accused, officials said, adding that he would be produced before the special judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal.
