Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cybercrime police on Friday arrested a youngster K Taraka Mahesh (23), an auto-rickshaw driver from Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, on charges of harassing his transgender wife on Facebook.
The victim who is a resident of L B Nagar became friends with Mahesh on the social media in 2018 and eventually both got married in 2020. According to the police, Mahesh, all along was aware that his wife was a transgender. “After marriage, the couple went to stay with Mahesh’s family in Eluru. Later, Mahesh and his family members started harassing her for additional dowry,” police said.
Unable to take it, she lodged a complaint with L B Nagar police recently, after which Mahesh was arrested. “However, after being released from the jail, bearing grudge against his wife, Mahesh created a fake Facebook profile and sent abusive and threatening messages to her,” police said.
Based on her complaint, the Cybercrime police with the help of technical clues traced and nabbed Mahesh from his house.
