Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday called upon autorickshaw drivers to enhance the credibility of the Auto Drivers Cooperative Society by repaying loans they had obtained without any delay.
Stating that the unique cooperative society was set up in Siddipet for the first with the objective of supporting auto drivers, the Minister said he would be a very happy man if his efforts help in improving their livelihood.
Addressing after presenting uniforms to 137 auto drivers here, the Minister said they were also providing training to auto drivers besides helping them in getting licenses at the right time. He said that they have also provided life insurance to all the auto drivers of the society.
Stating that they were giving Rs 5,000 loans, the Minister said that they will enhance it to Rs 10,000 soon besides increasing the membership of the society. Urging the auto drivers to maintain financial discipline, Harish Rao called upon them to ensure a better future for their children.
Saying that they were having much bigger plans, he said that they were planning to issue upto Rs 2 crore loans by obtaining funds from National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) soon. He also presented ex gratia to the family members of auto drivers, who died recently on this occasion.
Meanwhile, the management of Manjeera Function Hall presented 26 freezers to various Panchayats across Siddipet district at the hands of the Finance Minister.
