Hanamkonda: Aversion to girl children and his desire to have a son after falling in love with a minor girl prompted a man to murder his pregnant wife and their two daughters at Punnel village of Inavolu mandal in Warangal district on April 1, police found.
Police have arrested the main accused Mohammed Azharuddin, his family members MD Chand Pasha, MD Saliha and M Sharoddin, as well as Basika Sravanthi of Kadipikonda, Dr Balne Pardhu of Nekkonda, Bommera Manohar of Geesugonda, Lingala Naresh of Kondaparthi, Satla Raju of Punnel and Vakudoth Bhadru from Enugallu, while two other accused Dr Balne Poornima and Dr S Ravali were absconding.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Commissioner of Police Sunpreet Singh informed that Azharuddin of Punnel had married the deceased woman Farhath of the same village in 2016 after falling in love with her. They had two daughters, Humaira (9) and Ayesha (6).
Azharuddin and his family members wanted a male child. In 2021 and 2022, when the deceased became pregnant, they feared that she would give birth to a girl again. With the assistance of Satla Raju, a medical shop owner, RMP Naresh, lab technician Manohar, Dr Ravali of Suraksha Hospital in Kazipet, nurse Sravanthi and Dr Poornima of Upender Hospital in Nekkonda, the accused forced his wife to undergo gender determination tests.
Upon confirming that the unborn child was a girl, the accused forced the deceased to undergo abortions on the above two occasions. At the same time, Azharuddin developed an interest in a minor girl who was a distant relative, but the girl rejected his proposal, pointing out that he was already married and had two children. Believing that the girl refused to marry him because of his wife and children, he developed a grudge against them.
In March, Farhath became pregnant once again. Azharuddin, his parents and his younger brother thought that she would give birth to another girl child. They repeatedly quarrelled with her, pressuring her to undergo an abortion. Finally, he decided that he could marry the girl he was in love with and plotted to kill them.
To execute the plan, on April 1 at around 7:50 pm, the main accused drove his wife and children to the swimming pool he managed under the pretext of treating them to ice cream. In accordance with his scheme, he disabled the CCTV cameras and cut off the power supply at the swimming pool. He then forcibly pushed the trio into the pool, drowning them.
Having ensured they were dead, he falsely claimed that his wife and children had accidentally fallen into the swimming pool and drowned. During the course of investigation, the investigators confirmed that Azharuddin had murdered his wife and children. There were three pending cases against Sravanthi, four cases against Dr Pardhu and four cases against Dr Poornima, the CP said.
The CP commended East Zone DCP Ankit Kumar, Mamnoor ACP Venkatesh, Parvatagiri CI Rajagopal, Geesugonda Inspector Visweswar, Mamnoor Inspector Srinivas, Inavolu, Parvatagiri and Mamunoor SIs Srinivas, Praveen and Srikanth, and constables Hemakumar and Srinivas for nabbing the accused.
