Bail plea of Balka Suman posted for hearing in Mancherial
A Mancherial court posted the bail petition of BRS district president Balka Suman for hearing after police opposed it. The court dismissed the police custody plea earlier. Suman is in judicial remand in connection with an alleged convoy attack case.
Mancherial: The bail petition of BRS district president Balka Suman was posted for hearing on Monday by Junior Civil Judge A Nirmala, who heard the arguments from both sides. While police opposed the bail, arguing that Suman could influence witnesses using his power, the BRS leader’s lawyers argued that he deserved bail, claiming that the charges framed against him were not grave.
Earlier in the day, the court dismissed a petition filed by the police seeking custody of Suman and three warrants with regard to Prisoner on Transit (PT). It expressed its opinion against ordering police custody again, as he was sent to judicial remand after completion of the inquiry.
Suman was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and lodged in the jail at the Adilabad district headquarters on February 18. On February 17, a case was registered against him and eight others on charges of attacking the minister’s convoy, unlawful assembly, rioting, injuring a constable and obstructing a sub-inspector while police personnel were on bandobast duty at Kyathanpalli town.
