Bail plea of BRS leader Balka Suman adjourned again
The Mancherial district court has postponed the bail hearing of BRS district president Balka Suman to Thursday after police requested more time to file a counter and sought permission to take him into custody.
Mancherial: The bail petition of BRS district president Balka Suman has been posted for hearing on Thursday. A case was registered against Balka Suman on charges of attacking the convoy of Labour Minister Dr G Vivek and Peddapalli MP G Vamshikrishna recently.
The district court principal judge A Nirmala heard arguments but postponed the matter once again for two more days after the police sought additional time to file a counter and sought permission to take Suman into custody for an inquiry.
Suman’s counsel argued that the police officer who registered the case was himself the investigating officer of the case and that it was unnecessary to take him into police custody.
The government appointed a special public prosecutor to handle the case against Suman. Police drew criticism for registering a fake case against Suman and carrying out searches at his residence in Kyathanpalli on Sunday night.
Suman was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and lodged in a jail at the Adilabad district headquarters on February 18. A case was registered against him and eight others for allegedly attacking the minister’s convoy, unlawful assembly, rioting, injuring a constable and obstructing a sub-inspector while police personnel were on bandobast duty at Kyathanpalli on February 17.
