Hyderabad:  Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday accused the ruling Congress and the BRS of pursuing minority appeasement policies.

Sanjay Kumar, who participated in Bonalu celebrations here, hit out at the Congress government, alleging that even basic facilities were not being provided to devotees during the festival.

Bonalu has been declared a state festival, but where are the funds for its proper celebration?” he asked.

“There are around 3,400 temples in Hyderabad. Is an allocation of only Rs 20 crore for Bonalu celebrations enough? Why is Rs 33 crore allocated for Ramzan celebrations?” he asked.

He sought to question why the history of the Telangana Armed Struggle and its fighters had not been included in the school curriculum.

The union minister alleged that former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao had cheated people by promising Rs 20 crore for the development of the Lal Darwaza Ujjaini Mahankali temple but had “never fulfilled the promise”.

“The Congress and BRS parties are afraid of Sanatana Dharma. Both parties are following policies of minority appeasement,” he alleged, adding that the BJP was completely opposed to minority appeasement politics.

“If the BJP comes to power in Telangana, it will organise Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad’s Old City on a grand scale and provide all necessary facilities,” he said.

Sanjay Kumar alleged that the Congress government was not providing funds for the development of the Simhavahini temple because it feared that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi may be “unhappy”.

“Hindus are the ones paying taxes in the Old City. What is wrong with giving our own money back to us for the development of our temples? If I question this, will you brand me as a communal person? My main goal is to awaken Hindu society. Leaders who criticise me should first do some self-introspection. The Old City belongs equally to Hindus,” he said.

Sanjay Kumar said he would continue to raise his voice for Hindus and work firmly for Sanatana Dharma.

He said young people were not only sending rockets into space but were also speaking up for Sanatana Dharma.

“It is heartening to see Gen Z saying that they will send rockets into the sky and also question on social media those who insult Sanatana Dharma,” he said.

Alleging that the Congress had a history of making promises but failing to implement them, he questioned the party over its promise to fill two lakh government posts within a year and provide a Rs 4,000 monthly unemployment allowance until jobs were filled.

Sanjay Kumar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves credit for providing 12 lakh jobs through Rozgar Melas.
