Hyderabad: BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday demanded that the State government immediately release funds for the fee reimbursement and scholarships to BC students.
He alleged that due to delay in release of funds for fee reimbursement and scholarships to BC students for the last two years, arrears amounting to Rs 3,000 crore need to be paid by the State government to various educational institutions.
In a statement, Sanjay said college managements were pressing students to clear their fee dues failing which they would not issue certificates even after completing courses like BTech, BE, MTech, MBA and MCA among others. He expressed anguish that nearly 14 lakh BC students were suffering from mental distress due to the negligence of the State government in clearing the dues.
“In erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, the State government reimbursed the entire fee for engineering, medicine, degree and PG courses. But currently, the Telangana government is making full reimbursement of fee for only those who got ranks below 10,000 for engineering and those who secured more than 10,000 rank, are receiving only Rs 35,000,” Sanjay alleged.
The BJP State president demanded that the GO no 18 should be amended to allow full payment of fees for those pursuing professional courses like engineering, medicine and management courses. He wanted the State government to immediately release funds towards clearance of fee reimbursement dues and scholarships.
