Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay sought to play down the POCSO case against his son Sai Bageerath terming the case as an attempt by ‘a few vested interests’, who could not face him politically and asserted that he would never do anything which could adversely impact the Bharat Janata Party (BJP), Sanjay vouched at a public meeting here on Sunday.
He used the BJP public meeting where Narendra Modi spoke, to put up an argument in the backdrop of a raging controversy over his son’s actions which led to registration of a criminal case. He appealed to the people not to believe in the false campaigns.
“I will never let down the BJP. I take pride in saying I am a BJP worker and Narendra Modi’s shishya (disciple),” Sanjay said.
The Union Minister said when BJP workers raise “Jai Sri Ram” slogans, the Congress government in Telangana feared as with the same slogans, the BJP had come to power in West Bengal and Assam. He took a dig at the leaders, who asked whether raising such slogans would fill the coffers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated development works worth Rs. 9,400 crore with the same slogans, he stressed. When the BJP government was releasing funds to Telangana, the Congress leaders were carrying the same to New Delhi, he charged.
Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had campaigned in Telangana during the Assembly elections and promised six guarantees. After having failed to fulfill the electoral promises, they were avoiding visits to the State, the Union Minister stressed.
