Bandi Sanjay to accompany PM Modi during Hyderabad visit amid POCSO case against son

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar will be among select invitees receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon. While the officials followed protocol, Sanjay’s presence among select invitees to receive the Prime Minister and later, participate in official and public meetings, has raised many eyebrows in the wake of a POCSO case registered against his son Bhagirath.

According to the official schedule, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, BJP MPs and other elected representatives, will be among the select invitees receiving the Prime Minister at Begumpet Airport upon his arrival from Bengaluru. Sanjay is also expected to accompany Modi during the official programmes pertaining to the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies for multiple infrastructure and industrial projects in Hyderabad.

Significantly, Sanjay will continue alongside the Prime Minister during the BJP’s major public meeting at Parade Grounds later in the evening.

However, the big question is whether Sanjay will actually turn up. Showing up beside the Prime Minister, especially at a packed political rally, is not a small thing when a case of this nature was swirling around his family. His presence could prove uncomfortable for him and the party.

The Prime Minister will land in Hyderabad at 2:20 PM on Sunday, flying in from Bengaluru. It is his first visit to Telangana after returning to power for a third term, and the BJP has pulled out all the stops. Between 2:30 and 3:00 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several projects including the Zaheerabad Integrated Industrial Smart City, the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, and a four-lane highway under the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor, remotely. A BJP public meeting follows at Parade Grounds from 5:30 PM.
