Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday accused BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar of indulging in opportunisitic politics like organising a ‘Deeksha’ at Indira Park on the unemployment issue since the party leaders were unable to explain to the people the Centre’s failure to provide jobs. “This is nothing but an attempt to instigate the youth and divert their attention from their education and job searches,” he said.

“If Sanjay has any commitment on the jobs issue, he should do ‘deeksha’ at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Sanjay has no moral right to criticise the State government which had provided more jobs than promised. Instead, he should question the Central government for keeping notifications for lakhs of jobs pending,” the Minister said in an open letter to Sanjay.

“Sanjay should question Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to why 15 lakh vacancies were pending at the national level,” Rama Rao said. “If you (Sanjay) are inefficient in questioning the Centre on jobs, then you should tender an apology to the people,” he said.

The BJP State president should do self-retrospection before organising a ‘deeksha’. Demanding that Sanjay tender an apology to the youth for the Centre’s failure in providing jobs, Rama Rao said the BJP has no moral right to question the State government on employment issues.

“We have more affection for the youth in the State and our efforts to provide more jobs in government and private sectors will continue,” Rama Rao said, adding that Telangana has very low unemployment rate compared to other States.

He urged the youth not to believe in false information spread by the BJP to derive political mileage. In a letter to Sanjay, the Minister said the TRS government provided 1.33 lakh jobs to the youth as against one lakh jobs promised by it.

It was the TRS government, which attracted investments worth Rs 2.20 lakh crore through Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS-iPASS) and provided employment to as many as 16 lakh people.

Apart from providing employment to youth in government and private sectors, the government has also taken measures to strengthen the agriculture sector, Rama Rao said, explaining the measures taken by the TRS government to provide employment to people.

Various initiatives were also taken up by formulating T-IDEA and T-Pride policies to encourage self-employment apart from giving training to youth in Telangana through Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge and encouraging those who are into traditional occupations.

“Unable to digest these facts, Sanjay is organizing a fake ‘deeksha’ to instigate youth,” he said. The BJP came to power twice promising ‘ache din’ (good days). “What happened to it?” he asked. When information about the number of jobs provided to youth was sought, the Central government said that the data was unavailable.

However, the TRS government was ready to provide all details pertaining to job notifications and employment generated to the youth. The State government came up with a new zonal system to ensure that the locals get 90 per cent of the jobs. But the Centre created problems in accepting it.

The police in the BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka resorted to lathi-charge against the lakhs of unemployed youth, who came to submit job applications. The Centre was also forcing the employees in public sector undertakings (PSUs) to avail either voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) or compulsory retirement scheme (CRS) for privatizing the PSUs. “Is it not a fact that lakhs of youth from BJP-ruled States are migrating to Telangana in search of livelihood?” Rama Rao asked.
