Hyderabad: With the festival holiday preceding the second Saturday and Sunday, banks will be closed for three days on a trot from September 10 to 12. It will be prudent to plan your banking transactions keeping this in view.
“There is no major deviance in the number of working days for the banks in Hyderabad. Except for the one additional holiday for Ganesh Chathurthi on September 10, there is no change in the number of working days. Yes, there is bunching in one instance- 10, 11, 12 (Friday to Sunday), said an SBI official. Vinayaka Chaturthi is a holiday in Telangana and several other States.
A report in circulation said banks will be closed for 12 days in September. However, that does not hold true across the nation as some of the holidays are State specific.
Parkash Utsav Sri Guru Granth Shaib is marked as a holiday on September 8 for Punjab. September 9 is a holiday for Chandigarh and Sikkim on account of Haratalika Teej. Gujarat has a holiday on September 10 due to Samvatsari Festival.
Banks in Goa will be closed for Ganesh Chaturthi and in Odisha for Nukhai on September 11. Those in Rajasthan will be closed on September 12 due to Ramdev Jayanti and Teja Dashmi. They will be closed in Kerala on September 21 for Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi. Banks will be closed on September 23 in Haryana due to Heroes’ Martyrdom Day and in Punjab on September 28 on account of S Bhagat Singh Ji Jayanti.
In addition to these, banks are closed across the country on Sundays (5, 12, 19, and 26) and on second and fourth Saturdays (11 and 25) in September.
