Hyderabad: It was a Bathukamma festival with a difference on the first day of the nine-day festivities on Wednesday in Huzurabad as the women took part in it with a song that highlighted the anti-people’s and anti-farmer’s policies pursued by the BJP government at the Centre.
Bathukamma made with colourful flowers was placed on empty cooking gas cylinders in front of a temple in Huzurabad, with women and children singing and dancing in unison, highlighting the plight of the people under BJP rule. Another group of women did a similar song-and-dance sequence in an open space of their village in Karimnagar district.
Right from the farm laws to the increasing petrol and diesel prices to privatization of public sector undertakings, increasing prices of essential commodities and unemployment problem, the song emphasized the Centre’s apathetic attitude towards the common man.
The women slammed the BJP which brought farm laws detrimental to the farmers’ community.
