Hyderabad: Demanding implementation of 42 percent reservations for the Backward Classes (BCs) in the State, the BC Joint Action Committee has called for the state-wide bandh on October 18.

In a statement, BC Welfare Association secretary J Lingam Goud urged all educational institutions, business establishments, and the general public to extend full cooperation to the bandh.

He said the bandh was not aimed at political gains but was a movement for justice for BCs in the State. “The call is to awaken the consciousness and unity of the BC community. The injustice being done to BCs, especially regarding their rightful reservations, needs to be highlighted at the national level,” he said.

Meanwhile, SC, ST and Bahujan student organisations have extended their support for the bandh.
