Karimnagar: Police placed activists of the BC Association under preventive custody on Friday ahead of Governor Jishnu Dev Varma’s visit to Karimnagar.
BC leaders were reportedly planning to stage a protest during the Governor’s programme, alleging that he had not approved the 42 per cent BC reservation Bill. To prevent any untoward incident, police took several leaders into custody and shifted them to the Police Training Centre.
The Governor was in the town to attend the second convocation of Satavahana University.
