Kothagudem: The leaders of BC Hakkula Sadhana Samithi demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi enact a law in Parliament on the issue of 42 percent reservation for BCs and include it in the 9th Schedule.

The samithi took out a protest rally and staged a dharna at bus stand centre here on Wednesday seeking public support for a bandh called by BC JAC on October 18. BC leaders Kodumuri Satyanarayana, Guthula Srinivas, Tumula Srinivas, Kurimilla Shankar and others BCs were backward in many fields and the Central and State governments should fulfill their just demand.

Unless the BJP government at the Centre recognises the aspirations of the Telangana BC people and enacts a law in Parliament and includes it in the 9th Schedule, it will be not possible for the community members to get 42 percent quota, they said.

CPI district secretary Sabir Pasha took part in the dharna extending solidarity to the BCs. In the survey conducted by the Congress government it was found that the BCs were in the majority. The CPI supports the Telangana bandh call over BC reservation, he said.

Later, the copies of the case filed in court against BC reservation were burnt. Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti leaders Kusapati Srinivas, Modugu Joga Rao, BSP leader Tandra Venkateswarlu and AIYF leader Khayyam took part in the protest extending their support to BCs.
