Hyderabad: The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) may have denied the associate membership to Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) but their sustained efforts yielded a positive result with Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) being asked to give a report as regards to steps taken on the development of cricket outside Hyderabad.
As per the latest BCCI communication, it appreciated TCA and their concern regarding the development of cricket outside Hyderabad. “Although the BCCI cannot accept the representation of Associate Membership by TCA, the BCCI feels TCA in collaboration with Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) can help the growth and development of cricket in the State of Telangana,’’ said Rajeev Shukla (vice president) and Arun Dhumal (treasurer).
The BCCI directed the HCA officials to meet the representatives of TCA to address their concern on development of cricket outside Hyderabad. “The HCA is directed to address the concerns of TCA in a time bound manner. HCA is also directed to prepare a report of the steps taken by it in relation to the development of cricket outside the city of Hyderabad within 6 months,’’ added the statement.
Dharam Guruva Reddy, secretary of TCA, said it is pursuant to Supreme Court Order’s compliance, and High Court at Bombay directions, the BCCI has given the the decision to collaborate with TCA to Develop cricket outside the Hyderabad City.
“It is a primary reflection and acknowledgement of the work done by the TCA during the last seven years in the districts. TCA’s concern will be uniformity in structure and representation on State teams for the boys and girls from Districts, representation on various committees including selection committees and number of memberships etc., and if required, will appeal further to achieve our goals,’’ he said.
