Have you received a message or call claiming that you’ve won a lottery in Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu or Kaun Banega Crorepati? Hold on, because it might just be a scamster trying to con you off your hard-earned money.
On Monday, Telangana State Police tweeted about this and asked people to exercise caution.
“Be alert! Realise, if you get a WhatsApp message, phone call, or any letter on “Kaun Banega Crorepati lottery” is a fraud. Do not respond or do not pay any amount to claim that KBC lottery. If you are greedy, you will be cheated (sic),” the police tweeted.
There have been several instances where scammers have sent WhatsApp messages that mostly have the logo of Kaun Banega Crorepati as its display picture or made calls promising people a chance at MEK or KBC, congratulating them for winning a certain amount.
The fraudsters further say that a message would be sent in a bit, which details the procedure to receive the cash that includes initially depositing a sum of money to receive the cash prize.
Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu or Kaun Banega Crorepati doesn’t send such texts or make calls. So if you receive a text, complain to the police immediately. In case you receive a call, disconnect it immediately.
