Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued an advisory warning government employees about fraudulent extortion calls being made by individuals impersonating ACB officials.
“Some persons are making fake calls in the name of ACB officers, threatening public servants and demanding money for not registering cases against them. ACB officials never call public servants to demand money in lieu of closing cases. Employees are advised not to fall for such calls or make any payments,” the advisory stated.
The ACB has lodged a complaint at the Abid Road police station against one such person who made calls to government officials.
Officials urged employees who receive such calls to immediately contact the ACB toll-free helpline 1064 and lodge a complaint at the nearest police station.
