Sangareddy: The traffic woes of road users going on either side of NH-65 at BHEL junction are likely to end January as officials are preparing to open the under-construction fly-over in the first month of the new year.

Aiming to complete the project by October 2024, the National Highways Department had grounded the 1.65 km long fly-over in October 2022. However, the work is being delayed a bit late adding to the woes of the road users.

It takes 10 to 15 minutes during the peak hours to drive the 2-km stretch at BHEL junction. Many road users avoid using this road during the peak hours.

Speaking to Telangana Today R&B DE, Ramakrishna said that they would allow the traffic on fly-over by January end. However, he said they would complete the works of the service road, u-turns and junction by the end of March.

Since they can take up the work of service roads, u-turns, and junctions only after they divert the traffic onto the newly built flyover, the DE said they could not take up these works simultaneously.

The six-lane flyover and six-lane service road on either side of the fly-over would ease the traffic congestion on the busiest stretch of the Mumbai-Hyderabad highway.

A Private school teacher, Raja Kumari, who goes to Madinaguda from Ashok Nagar every day, said that they start from the house 15 minutes early because of traffic congestion here.

She urged the officials to complete the highway as early as possible. The cost of the project was Rs 130 crore. Thousands of industrial workers, who would travel to the Patancheru industrial area every day, would get some relief once the fly-over was opened.
