Bhoomi Puja held for houses for Velugumatla displaced families in Khammam

Khammam: As many as 38 Velugumatla displaced families who were given house pattas performed ‘Bhoomi Puja’ at Velugumatla Bhoodan lands on Thursday.
Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, along with Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt and Additional Collector P Srinivasa Reddy, laid the foundation stone for the construction of houses. The minister said that Velugumatla would be developed as a model colony in the State.
The construction of houses in the colony would be completed and the housewarming ceremony would be held by December 9, marking the birthday of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. The construction of a school, community hall and shopping complex would be undertaken in the colony, Nageswara Rao said.
He said that the housing department would provide support to the poor in the construction of houses. Laying of electricity poles for power supply in the layout would be completed by Ugadi while drinking water pipeline work would be undertaken through Mission Bhagiratha.
