Bhukya Yashwanth’s ‘The Unnamed’ book released in Shillong

Indian mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth’s coffee-table book The Unnamed, documenting his Ladakh expedition, was released in Shillong. The book captures high-altitude challenges, people and experiences, while highlighting his “Har Shikhar Par Tiranga” mission and efforts to inspire youth through adventure

Hyderabad: Indian mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth’s coffee-table book, The Unnamed, was released in Shillong in the presence of Assam Rifles Director General Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, senior officers of the force and other distinguished guests.

The Unnamed documents Yashwanth’s Ladakh expedition, capturing not only the mountains and high-altitude challenges but also the people, experiences, emotions and moments that shaped the journey.

The book takes readers behind the expedition — from preparations and harsh conditions to the challenges faced at high altitude and the human stories connected with the mountains. It seeks to preserve the expedition as a visual record and share the deeper story behind the summit journey.

The Ladakh expedition was undertaken as part of Yashwanth’s larger mission, “Har Shikhar Par Tiranga”, through which he aims to document the highest peaks of all 28 Indian states and continue his journey towards the Seven Summits across the seven continents. He also seeks to inspire young people, particularly those from rural and tribal communities, to pursue sports, adventure and disciplined lives.

The release of The Unnamed in Shillong holds special significance for Yashwanth because of the support and encouragement he has received from the Assam Rifles throughout his journey. He expressed his gratitude to the Director General, Assam Rifles, and senior officers for their encouragement, guidance and continued support.

Speaking about the book, Yashwanth said, “This book is more than a collection of photographs. It is a story of an expedition, the challenges we faced, the people we met, the mountains we experienced and the emotions behind the journey. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me and made this journey possible.”

The book also serves as a tribute to the spirit of courage, sacrifice and service that continues to inspire generations of Indians.

Yashwanth, who began his mountaineering journey with limited exposure and resources, continues to use his experiences in the mountains to encourage young people to believe in themselves, embrace discipline and choose positive paths through sports and adventure.

The release of The Unnamed marks another chapter in his continuing journey to take the Tricolour to challenging peaks and share stories that go beyond the summit.
