Jayashankar Bhupalapally: District Collector Bhavesh Mishra has directed the authorities concerned to take steps to receive applications in order from the ‘podu’ farmers through Gram Sabhas to provide RoFR title deeds for podu lands from November 8 to 12 in the district.
An awareness programme for the district and mandal level officials on receiving claims from the podu farmers from the tribal and non-tribal communities for distribution of RoFR title deeds was held at Yellandu Club here on Saturday.
Additional District Collector TS Divakar explained the Recognition of Forest Rights (RoFR) Act and the process to receive the claims/applications from the people, who were doing podu cultivation in the forest lands, through a presentation on the projector.
On the occasion, District Collector Bhavesh Mishra said that as the State government had decided to issue title deeds under the provisions of the RoFR Act to the tribals and non-tribals, who were dependent on forest lands for generations for their livelihood.
“We have already formed village committees in 150 settlements/habitations of 91 Gram Panchayats in the district. The district and mandal level officers, who are attending today’s training session, will be appointed as nodal officers for the Gram Panchayats,” the Collector said and added that the applications should be submitted to the Forest Rights Committee (FRC).
“As per the ROFR Act, the people can apply for RoFR entitlement documents by producing the required documents that they were in possession of the land since December 13, 2005,” he added.
He said that public representatives should also be involved during the process of receiving applications.
Joint Collector Kurakula Swarnalatha said that the officials must ensure that people are not applied with the address proofs of the other States and districts. “You should also ensure that the applicants follow the queue lines while submitting the applications,” she added.
District Forest Officer (DFO) Boda Lavanya said that the Gram Sabhas should be conducted systematically to create awareness on the process of the acceptance of applications for issuance of RoFR entitlement documents. RDO Srinivas, DPO Ashalata, ZP CEO Shobharani, district and mandal level officials and others attended the meeting.
