Bhupalpally Collector Rahul Sharma on Friday directed officials to ensure strict compliance with cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety during the preparation of midday meals.
Bhupalpally: In the wake over 50 students of Zilla Parishad High School, Maganoor, in Narayanpet district taking ill on Wednesday, shortly after eating their mid-day meal on the school premises, Collector Rahul Sharma on Friday directed officials to ensure strict compliance with cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety during the preparation of midday meals.
The Collector, who held a review meeting on food supplied to government residential school students with the officials through virtual mode, asked them to ensure quality food to students. He directed them to inspect the rice and other materials supplied to government residential school hostels and midday meal scheme. “Quality of rice, pluses, vegetables and other materials should be checked on a regular basis. Officials should inspect hostel premises at least thrice a week,”he said.
Stating that stringent action would be taken against officials in the event of food poisoning incident in the district, he asked them to organise “Food with Children” programme every Friday to check the quality of food being served to the students.
