Alumni and donors uplift Khammam ZPHS

Charitable donors, including alumni and retired teachers, are supporting Zilla Parishad High School at M. Venkatayapalem in Khammam district by providing purified drinking water, infrastructure, and prizes for students. Their contributions have significantly improved facilities for the 175 students studying at the school.

Khammam: While many government schools lack basic facilities, the students of Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) at M. Venkatayapalem mandal headquarters in the district are lucky enough to have their needs met, thanks to the charitable donors.

A journalist and former student of the ZPHS, Mandati Venkata Ramana is providing purified drinking water for the past two years for the students while several donors are providing basic necessities for the school.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Ramana stated that he decided to supply mineral water to the school after he learnt that the students were drinking water supplied by the local gram panchayat.

He ensures supply of RO water cans delivered to the school every working day by spending his own money. “As a native of the village and former student of the school, I just wanted to do my part for the well-being of the students,” he averred.

Ramana also sponsors prizes for the students who excelled in annual day games and sports besides providing rice and other materials when the students go on picnic, informed the school headmaster G Srinivasa Rao adding that he always stands at the forefront to serve the school.

A retired biology teacher Ch Jagadeesh bought a mineral water fridge worth Rs 25, 000 to store the water supplied by Ramana while a donor Ch Maria Krupabai provided dining tables worth Rs 25,000 and another donor Gurram Atchaiah built an extra room for kitchen with Rs 70,000.

Similarly, a retired English teacher T Aadhi Narayana spent Rs 46,000 to set up the school gate, retired social teacher G Vijayalakshmi bought a sound system worth Rs 50,000 and a Telugu teacher G Vani installed an electrical bell worth Rs 10,000.

SSC 1988-89 batch students built a dais and school arch while donors; B Usha Rani, Karate Ramu, Gadde Satish, Gummadi Veerababu, Rental Shiva, Ch Venkateswara Rao, Nandra Prasad and IDBI rural branch helped to improve infrastructure at the school while a donor Chava Yadaiah assured to offer cash rewards to class toppers from Classes VI to X, the headmaster noted.

Around 175 students are studying in the school established in 1971, the headmaster Srinivasa Rao said while thanking all the kind-hearted donors for their contributions to the school’s progress.
