Patna: Bihar produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Manipur by a massive 568 runs in the final of the Ranji Trophy Plate Division 2025–26 at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna on Monday, clinching the title and securing promotion to the Elite Group for next season.
Batting first, Bihar piled up a formidable 522 in their first innings, with wicketkeeper-batter Bipin Saurabh leading the charge with a fluent 143. Skipper Sakibul Gani added a composed 108, while Suraj Kashyap contributed 83. For Manipur, Rex Rajkumar picked up four wickets, while Pheiroijam Jotin and Bishworjit Konthoujam claimed two each.
In reply, Manipur were bowled out for 264, with Ronald Longjam top-scoring with 79. Suraj Kashyap (3/34), Prashant Singh and Himanshu Singh (two wickets each) ensured Bihar held a commanding first-innings lead of 258 runs.
Bihar tightened their grip in the second innings, declaring at 505 for six. Opener Piyush Singh produced a monumental unbeaten 216 off 322 balls, supported by Raghuvendra Pratap Singh (90) and Khalid Alam (81).
Chasing 764, Manipur folded for 195 in their second innings. Pheiroijam Jotin fought with a valiant 74, but Bihar’s bowlers dominated again, with Suraj Kashyap (3/32) and Himanshu Singh (3 wickets) sealing the emphatic win inside 57 overs.
Bihar, who also earned promotion in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after defeating Manipur in the Plate final, capped off a memorable domestic season with this triumph.
