Bike lifter nabbed, 12 vehicles seized in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Karimnagar two town police arrested a bike lifter and recovered 12 vehicles from him on Tuesday. Presenting the accused before media persons at his office here, Additional DCP P Ashok explained the modus operandi of the dacoit.
Based on reliable information, police team led by Inspector T Laxmi Babu arrested the thief Maddi Srinivas near Padmanagar by-pass road. On questioning, he confessed to the crime of lifting bikes.
Srinivas, a native of Gundi of Ramadugu mandal, started his career as an auto-rickshaw driver in 2007. In 2009, he migrated to Kurnool, where he worked as a tractor driver. In 2012, he returned back to Gundi and worked as a driver for a few years.
In 2020, he started an autorickshaw spare parts store in Gopalpur by spending Rs 4 lakh and included into losses due to the Covid pandemic and sold the store in December 2020.
Unable to run the family, Srinivas adopted an easy way to earn money and started lifting bikes. While moving in the streets after midnight, he used to lift bikes parked in front of houses.
A total of 12 bikes were lifted from March 6, 2021, to July 12, 2021. Out of 12, nine two-wheelers were lifted from Karimnagar two town police station limits and one each in Pudur, Gundi and Namapur.
