Kumram Bheem Asifabad: An Indian Gaur or Bison accidentally fell into an agriculture well on the outskirts of Thatipalli village in Koutala mandal under Sirpur (T) forest range on Thursday. It was rescued by Forest department officials later.
Sirpur (T) Forest Range Officer Ch Purnachandar said a male bison aged two years from Maharashtra fell into the well which had low water level. “The herbivore, which strayed into Telangana, fell into the roadside well in an agriculture farm and we rescued it using a JCB machine and ensured its safe return to the neighboring State,” he said.
The foresters rushed to the spot on being alerted by the locals. They suspect the wild animal strayed into Telangana after crossing Penganga river in search of food. They said that around four bisons entered Telangana in recent times.
Sirpur (T) Deputy Forest Range Officer Prakash, Forest Beat Officers and members of a rescue team took part in the operation.
