Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said the BJP and the Congress parties that were fighting each other at the national level, had joined hands for the October 30 Huzurabad Assembly constituency by-election.
Responding to the comments made by Congress’ Telangana affairs in-charge Manickam Tagore against the TRS, the Minister said instead of BJP, the Congress leaders are criticising ruling TRS. “It is a clear indication that both the Congress and BJP have entered into a secret understanding,” he said.
Pointing out that the quality power supply without power cuts was being supplied to the people in Telangana, the Minister said the BJP government at the Centre, looking at the situation in the State, conspired to shift coal being produced in Telangana to other States.
About 100 congress party workers including Jammikunta town president K Venkanna, DCC official spokesperson Saleem and others joined TRS in the presence of Ministers T Harish Rao and Koppula Eashwar in Jammikunta.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Telangana State has become a role model in the country in taking up developmental programmes as well as implementation of welfare schemes.
Impressed by the Telangana government’s programmes, few Sarpanches and local leaders from Nanded area of Maharashtra State agreed to merge their area in Telangana State. In the recent past, an MLA from Raichur wanted to merge his area in Telangana. People and leaders from neighbouring States were appreciating Telangana since the State was going ahead on all fronts, Harish noted.
Talking about stopping of Dalit Bandhu scheme, the Minister said BJP general secretary Premender Reddy wrote letter to Election Commission against the implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme in Huzurabad constituency. Based on the letter, EC has issued orders stalling the implementation of Dalit Bandhu till October 30.
Besides stalling the scheme, the BJP leaders were again raising the voice for implementation of the scheme. They (BJP leaders) could stop the scheme for a period of ten days. Chandrashekhar Rao, who will be in the Chief Minister post after ten days, would resume the scheme.
Terming BJP as an anti-labour party, he said working hours in Gujarat have been enhanced to 12 hours from 8 hours. The Saffron party was also against Dalits, Tribals, Muslims and Christians. Only BJP candidate Rajender will get benefit if he is elected in by-polls. But, the entire Huzurabad constituency people will be benefited if TRS aspirant Gellu Srinivas Yadav is elected, he said.
Rajender, who has always been focused on his victory, was not talking about the problems of people. There was no chance for Rajender to win the election since the Union government led by BJP enhanced the prices of fuel and cooking gas, said Harish Rao who wanted Rajender to reduce the price of cooking gas by using his influence in the Central government since the domestic gas has become a huge burden for the poor.
He appealed to the people to elect the TRS candidate if they wanted to develop the constituency.
Besides 24 hours electricity, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima has been provided for the welfare of the farming community. Chandrashekhar Rao was the only Chief Minister, who was providing Rs 5 lakh Rythu Bima to the kin of the deceased farmers, the Minister said, adding, safe drinking water was being supplied to each and every house by completing the prestigious Mission Bhagiratha scheme. Elederly people are getting only Rs 600 pension in Gujarat, the native State of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, Telangana government is giving Rs 2,016 pension, the Minister highlights.
