BJP, Congress betraying Telangana, says Harish Rao

BRS leader T. Harish Rao accused both the Congress and BJP of betraying Telangana, alleging that neither helped the State despite winning multiple Lok Sabha seats. He likened Modi and Revanth Reddy’s bond to “Chote Bhai, Bade Bhai,” calling their rule anti-Telangana.

Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao accused both the national parties of cheating Telangana and its people.

Welcoming several BJP cadres from Nyalkal mandal in Sangareddy district into the BRS fold in the presence of Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao at his Hyderabad residence on Sunday morning, Harish Rao said the bond between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was like “Chote bhai Bade bhai”. He alleged that both Congress and BJP MPs, despite winning eight Lok Sabha seats each from Telangana, had done nothing for the State.

Rao said the BJP-led Union government was releasing funds on priority to States going to elections while neglecting Telangana. He accused Modi of denying medical colleges to the State even though 157 were sanctioned across the country.

Recalling the Prime Minister’s promises of doubling farmers’ income by 2022, introducing bullet trains, and providing housing for all the poor, Rao said the BJP government instead burdened people by raising LPG cylinder prices from Rs.350 to Rs.1,200 and petrol prices from Rs.65 to Rs.110, along with several other essentials.

He said the Centre’s claims of reducing GST were misleading, as the government was only cutting down taxes it had imposed in 2017. Rao also targeted Revanth Reddy, alleging that farmers were forced to stand in queues for days to get a bag of urea.

Recalling how the BRS government under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao made farming profitable in Telangana, Harish Rao urged the party cadre to work hard and ensure BRS victory in a majority of MPTC and ZPTC seats in the erstwhile Medak district.
