Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday said a rift was being created among the students in the name of religion in Karnataka where a three day holiday was declared for education institutions by the government.
“On the one side, they say ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ and on the other hand, they are threatening girls who are going to school saying ‘Beti Darao Beti Damkao. This is the situation in Karnataka,” he said at a meeting in Ibrahimpatnam.
He said that religious hatred was being promoted among the innocent students. “Think about providing quality education by setting up more educational institutions. But do not spoil the minds of students,” he said. Refuting to criticism of Opposition parties towards Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s proposal for a new Constitution, Rama Rao said the Chief Minister was a true Ambedkarite. “We followed the Constitution written by Dr BR Ambedkar for 14 years and fulfilled the dream of separate Telangana as per the Constitution,” he said. “Is the Constitution written by Ambedkar still existing in India? Only Modi’s Constitution works in India now,” he said.
Rama Rao said all the agencies were now in the control of Modi and these agencies were acting as per the latter’s instructions. “We have seen what happened in West Bengal. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blocked Governor on Twitter,” he said.
Explaining in detail about the injustice meted out to Telangana since 2014 by the Central government, he said the Centre did not sanction prestigious national educational institutions including IIMs for Telangana. The Central government failed to give national status to Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. However, it accorded national status to Upper Bhadra project in Karnataka, he added.
