Khammam: The district BJP leaders demanded the State government to reduce value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel. The party district president Galla Satyanarayana and others staged a dharna at the district collectorate here on Saturday office demanding to reduce VAT by Rs 20 per litre on petrol and diesel.
The leaders complained that the government was troubling people by levying Rs 40 VAT on petrol and diesel. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao stated that the State would reduce VAT if the Centre reduces the tax.
Since the Centre reduced the tax by Rs 10 per litre on diesel and petrol, the State should follow suit to ease the burden on people, Satyanarayana demanded. The party leaders S Uday Pratap, D Satyanarayana, G Vidyasagar, Shyam Rathod, M Saraswati and others took part in the dharna.
