BJP has no link with Bandi Bhageerath case: Ramchander Rao
BJP State president N Ramchander Rao said the party had no connection with the case involving Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s son, Bandi Bhageerath. He termed it a family matter, defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks and criticised the Congress government over temple incidents.
Hyderabad: Amid growing criticism of the BJP over the case involving union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay’s son Bandi Bageerath, BJP State president N Ramchander Rao said the party had no connection with the issue. He said the incident was related to a family matter and not linked to the BJP in any way. Calling it a legal issue, he said the law would take its own course.
“Bandi Sanjay is our Minister and he has no connection with the issue. If any of his family members are involved, the police will investigate the matter,” Ramchander Rao said during a press conference here on Monday.
Responding to the Congress party’s objections to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks accusing the party of behaving like the Muslim League, Ramchander Rao defended the Prime Minister’s comments. He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy himself had earlier stated that “Congress is Muslim and Muslim is Congress.” “What new remark did the Prime Minister make? He only repeated what Congress leaders themselves have been saying,” Ramchander Rao said.
The BJP leader also welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision to construct temples. However, he said the government must first ensure protection of existing temples and take action against those responsible for attacks on places of worship. Referring to the Muthyalamma, Safilguda, Keesara, Chandrayangutta and Puranapul temples incidents, he alleged that no action had been taken so far.
He further claimed that the Congress party was turning itself into a “Muslim League party.”
