Kamareddy: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao launched a blistering attack on both the BJP and Congress governments, accusing them of betraying Telangana and looting the poor. The BJP was not about “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas‘, but just full of ‘Bakwaas’, he said.
Addressing party workers who joined the BRS from the BJP at Gandhari mandal of Yellareddy constituency on Sunday, Harish Rao charged that the BJP government at the Centre discriminated against Telangana while favouring North Indian states.
“BJP is neither for the poor, nor for farmers, nor for Dalits. It is biased towards North India,” he asserted.
Accusing the Narendra Modi government of bias, the former Minister questioned why Telangana did not receive funds for “Godavari Pushkaralu”, while Andhra Pradesh was allotted Rs 100 crore. He pointed out that the support price for wheat grown in North India was Rs 216 higher than that of paddy, which is the staple crop of Telangana.
“Every Telangana farmer lost Rs 7,000 per acre for voting for BJP due to this discrimination,” he said, adding that if BRS was in the Parliament, the party would have brought funds for Telangana.
Criticising the Centre’s indifference, he stated that not a single medical college was sanctioned to Telangana though 157 new colleges were announced nationwide. He contrasted this with the BRS era which established a medical college in every district. Further, he pointed out that under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana was transformed into the granary of the country, with 24-hour power supply, Rythu Bandhu, Mission Kakatiya and several other initiatives.
Turning towards Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao said the Congress government had cut down on every welfare scheme initiated by Chandrashekhar Rao.
“Bathukamma sarees, KCR nutrition kits, pensions, Rythu Bandhu and several other schemes have been either stalled or scaled down. Revanth Reddy is not a Chief Minister, but a cutting master,” he said, adding that under the Revanth Reddy government, real estate collapsed, taxation increased, liquor prices surged and existing schemes were scrapped.
He accused the Congress of deceiving every section including farmers, women, and the elderly. He announced that the BRS had launched the “Congress Dues Cards” campaign to remind citizens of the unfulfilled promises of the Congress.
“The Congress government owes Rs 55,000 to every woman under the Mahalakshmi scheme and Rs 44,000 to each senior citizen,” he said.
Harish Rao said people of Telangana were ready to bring back Chandrashekhar Rao. He warned erring officials and police of accountability when the BRS returned to power.
“Unlike earlier, we will settle all accounts with interest,” he warned, as hundreds of BJP workers, including 150 former sarpanches and MPTCs, joined the BRS at the event.
