Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed when several BJP state leaders and supporters demanding a solution to issues within the Greater Hyderabad limits, tried to lay siege to the Telangana Secretariat under the banner “Save Hyderabad” on Friday afternoon.

In view of the protest, police have deployed heavy security around the Secretariat. BJP district presidents from six districts and corporators were expected to participate in the siege.

Several protestors were taken into preventive custody and shifted to the local police stations.

However, anticipating possible tensions, the police have taken preventive measures and have already placed several Greater Hyderabad BJP leaders including B Shyam Sundar Goud from Secunderabad under house arrest.

Earlier, Telangana Kranti Dal President Sangamreddy Prithviraj, who was one of the initiators of the ‘Marwadi Go Back’, campaign, was also taken into custody.
