Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s legislator from Dubbaka Raghunandan Rao was taken into preventive custody by the Rachakonda police on Monday.
Rao was on his way to the Karmanghat temple, when the police stopped him at Ghatkesar and shifted him to the police station. He was later released. A few more persons were also taken into custody at Karmanghat where they gathered to stage a protest over last week’s communal disturbance following a clash between persons transporting cattle and a group of cow vigilantes.
Meanwhile at Kukatpally, the police stopped a rally to protest the killing of a Bajrang Dal activist at Shivamogga in Karnataka earlier this month. The police took the protestors into custody and shifted them to the police station as they had not obtained permission for the rally.
