Hyderabad: BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao evoked sharp criticism from netizens for posting a tweet seeking to ridicule Industries Minister K T Rama Rao for Amul’s entry into Telangana with a Rs 500 crore investment. “Who are Gujarat ‘gulams’ now. Can anyone clarify?” he tweeted, tagging Rama Rao. The Twiterrati reacted swiftly and sharply, coming down heavily on the MLA.
Raghunananda Rao, without realising that the dairy major was a cooperative effort pioneered by Verghese Kurien, put the foot in the mouth with his comment, and had to face the resultant backlash.
Ganesh, a Netizen, tweeted: “Gujarat person came to Telangana but not a Telangana person. You are shameless.” Prabhakar Vatteka said: “That is Telangana State’s industrial policy and that is the part of Telangana government’s assurance to investors.”
In another tweet, Ganesh Kumar asked the BJP MLA: “Do you know the establishment date/year of Amul in India?”
Another person Sainath Cheera asked Raghunandan Rao in a tweet: “I really don’t understand what the issue was. If some industry was developed directly or indirectly people would get employment. I think you might have a plan to put a dairy? If that is the case then go with a good proposal.”
Netizen S Suman criticised the BJP MLA stating Gujarat industrialists liked Telangana’s business policy. “It’s not about gulam giri,” he said.
A netizen said that Telangana needs more such investments to eradicate unemployment.
K Prabhakar Goud tweeted: “Be proud that under Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, companies from other States are investing in Telangana. Self-goal… Raghu Anna…”
