Hyderabad: Charging that his Armoor constituency was being discriminated against in the sanction of funds and development projects, BJP MLA P Rakesh Reddy declared in the Assembly on Wednesday that he would resign from the post.

The BJP MLA’s announcement during Question Hour left the party in a spot.

Rakesh Reddy alleged that despite making repeated appeals to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other Ministers over the past two years, no action had been taken to address the issues in his constituency.

“Compared to the funds and projects sanctioned to Ministers’ constituencies, not even 50 per cent is being sanctioned to Armoor,” Rakesh Reddy said.

The BJP MLA made the remarks while highlighting the deplorable condition of the revenue office in his constituency. He said he was aware of the funds being sanctioned to Ministers’ constituencies and sought construction of an integrated office complex in Armoor at a cost of Rs 27 crore.

“If the issues in my constituency are not addressed and if funds are not released, I am prepared to submit my resignation,” Rakesh Reddy said. He also questioned how many times people should plead with the government for funds and development works.
