BJP MP Manish Jaiswal meets Amit Shah over Jharkhand exam irregularities
BJP MP Manish Jaiswal met Union Home Minister Amit Shah amid the ongoing Jharkhand students’ agitation over alleged recruitment exam irregularities. Jaiswal raised concerns over the JPSC and JSSC-CGL examinations and sought an impartial CBI probe into the allegations
New Delhi/Ranchi: Amid widespread protests by Jharkhand job aspirants, with thousands of them staging ‘Vidhan Sabha Gherao’ march in Ranchi on Day 17 of the stir, BJP MP from Hazaribagh Manish Jaiswal met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the capital to discuss a range of issues including probe into alleged irregularities into the JPSC examinations, by a central investigative agency.
During the meeting, the BJP lawmaker raised concerns regarding alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC-CGL recruitment examinations, student protests, the current law and order situation in the state, illegal drug trade, and the alleged looting of mineral wealth.
Jaiswal apprised the Home Minister about allegations of large-scale irregularities and the alleged buying and selling of seats in the JPSC and JSSC-CGL recruitment exams. He raised concerns of job aspirants and students, questioning the CID inquiry being conducted into the fiasco by the state government and advocated for an impartial enquiry by the CBI.
He argued that, given the circumstances, an impartial investigation by the CBI should be conducted.
Further briefing the Home Minister about protesting students’ demands, the MP emphasised that the issue extends beyond just recruitment exams and concerns the future of over 5 lakh candidates in Jharkhand and their faith in the government recruitment system.
This meeting comes in the backdrop of students-police clashes over the former’s demonstration and march towards the Assembly. As the protesting students closed in towards the Assembly, the police used water cannons, lobbed tear gas shells, and baton-charged them to disperse them. The protestors, however, stood firm and kept breaking barricades to reach the Assembly premises, raising their voice against alleged recruitment exam irregularities.
The Hazaribagh MP also raised the issue of law and order in Jharkhand during the meeting with the Home Minister and expressed concerns over the rising organised crime and illegal activities in the state.
He brought the matter of the expanding illegal drug trade in various areas, including Hazaribagh and Ramgarh, to the Home Minister’s attention.
