Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Raghunandan Rao has urged the State government to extend a 40 per cent quota to Members of Parliament in the allotment of Indiramma Houses, on par with the quota granted to MLAs.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, Raghunandan Rao welcomed the government’s decision to utilise funds from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for the Indiramma Housing scheme. However, he pointed out that local MLAs had been given a 40 per cent quota for identifying and allotting houses to the poor.
“MPs, too, are elected public representatives. All 17 MPs from Telangana should be granted a similar quota in housing allotment,” he said.
