IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao speaks during the
Assembly session on Monday.
Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday said the BJP government at the Centre had not fulfilled any of the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act to start with. The Union government which promised to set up a Rail Coach factory in Warangal district under the AP Reorganisation Act had shelved the proposal even though Telangana government gave 150 acres of land in 2016 for setting up this factory, he said in the State Assembly.
Responding to BJP MLA T Raja Singh’s claims that the Centre had extended continuous support to Telangana and that the State government was not acknowledging it, Rama Rao pointed out that the Centre declared that there was no need for a new coach factory anywhere in the country, but had launched one such factory in Latur in 2018, only because of elections in Maharashtra.
The Minister said the BJP MPs from the State had not only failed to realise any promises made by the Centre under AP Reorganisation Act, but also failed to develop their own constituencies. He questioned as to why the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) was shelved which could have been beneficial to Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency. He demanded to know why BJP MPs could not even get the Centre to sanction IIIT in Karimnagar, Tribal University in Adilabad and Turmeric Board in Nizamabad. “What are your MPs doing? They must do something for development of their own constituencies than going on walkathons,” he said.
Refering to the State government’s proposal to develop five potential industrial corridors connecting Hyderabad with Nagpur, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Warangal and Mumbai, the Minister said the Union government did not respond to the requests in the last seven years. He pointed out that the Centre was not responding to the State’s requests to support the Pharma City and ITIR, but there has been no response. When the State government proposed for establishment of National Handloom Institute and revive Cement Corporation of India, the Centre had suggested for selling these assets and offered incentives to the State for the same.
Oppn leaders indirectly truning into brand ambassadors
IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao thanked the Opposition leaders for unwittingly turning into brand ambassadors of the State government’s initiatives in their attempts to target the State government during their walkathons and protests.
“The Opposition leaders may not directly acknowledge the development achieved by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao after State formation, but the background in the photographs posted by the opposition shows lush green agriculture fields and overflowing tanks that endorse the good work done by the State government,” he said.
