Hyderabad: A day before dharnas planned by TRS across Telangana to expose the Centre’s indifferent attitude towards farmers in procuring paddy, the BJP leaders staged protests in front of the offices of district Collectors in the State demanding that the State government procure paddy.
Holding placards and posters, the BJP activists assembled in front of the Collectorates and staged protests. Raising slogans denouncing the attitude of the State government in procuring paddy, the leaders demanded that the government come to the rescue of farmers.
The protests were organised in response to a call given by the party State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday to the heads of all district units and morchas.
Party general secretary G Premendhar Reddy led the protest at the Collectorate in Warangal while Rangareddy district rural president Narasimha Reddy, BJP SC Morcha State president K Basha along with other activists took part in the protest at the Collector’s office.
A group of party activists staged a protest at the Jogulamba Gadwal district Collector’s office. The police put up barricades in front of the Collectorate offices to prevent the entry of BJP leaders.
Premendhar Reddy alleged that the ruling party was unnecessarily blaming the Centre on paddy procurement issue.
The police took the leaders into preventive custody. To prevent any untoward incidents, security was beefed up at the Collectorates.
