BJP wins Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor post with 34 votes
The BJP captured the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor post with 34 votes after last-minute political changes. Kolagani Srinivas was elected Mayor and Y Sunil Rao Deputy Mayor, while the BRS stayed away from voting, altering the final outcome.

Karimnagar: Bringing down the curtains on a suspenseful drama, the BJP captured the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor post with 34 votes.
Second division BJP corporator Kolagani Srinivas was elected as Mayor. Meanwhile, 42nd division corporator Y Sunil Rao was elected as Deputy Mayor.
Out of 66 divisions, the BJP won 30. One AIFB corporator and two independents raised their hands in favour of BJP Mayor and Deputy Mayor candidates. So, the BJP got 34 votes, including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s ex-officio vote.
The BRS stayed away from voting.
Though the BJP got close to the majority to capture KMC, suspense continued as the Congress party had twisted the scenario and decided to get the Mayor post with the support of BRS, MIM, AIFB and a few independents.
However, equations changed overnight and the BRS decided to stay away from voting.
Though Congress, AIFB and independents participated in the voting, the BRS stayed away from voting.
