Hyderabad: State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar here on Saturday called upon the party yuva morcha activists to stop stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui from conducting shows in the city.

“It is your responsibility to prevent the entry of Faruqui into the city,” he instructed the activists during a programme organized by the party in connection with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the State office in Nampally here.

Sanjay made this remarks while responding to an invitation extended to Faruqui by Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development K T Rama Rao. Following the protest in Karnataka by BJP Cadre, the Minister welcomed the stand-up comedian saying we are more tolerant than others.

Vajpayee’s birth anniversary was celebrated as good governance day across the country.

“We should prevent Faruqui from entering the city as he conducts shows criticizing the Hindu Goddesses. Several States have already banned his entry,” he said, adding that the BJP MLA T Raja Singh has already responded on the issue.

Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, who was also present at the programme, said the path shown by Vajpayee should be followed. It was Vajpayee who introduced several welfare schemes and technology-driven initiatives for the development of the country on all fronts.

“Vajpayee introduced various reforms when he was the Prime Minister. The same reforms resulted in expansion of telecom services in the country. The expansion of highways and other road networks gained momentum during his tenure,” Reddy said.

He added that Vajpayee’s commitment helped in strengthening the BJP in the country.
