Hyderabad: Asha workers and ANMs deputed as BLOs for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls duties in Secunderabad Cantonment assembly constituency are likely to go on strike for the second time over the non-payment of honorarium.

Earlier, these BLOs staged a protest at the SCB office on July 8 over the same issue, following which partial pending dues were paid to them.

“Not even 2% of the total pending dues (Rs 35,000 to 50,000 each ANM and Asha worker) were paid by the Cantonment Board officials,” Bhagyalakshmi, president of Cantonment Board Asha Workers Union, told ‘Telangana Today’.

She said they continued the SIR duties based on the assurance of the officials but were yet to receive the remaining balance dues.

When contacted, Assistant ERO of the Secunderabad Cantonment M Devender said, “We will discuss the issue with SCB Chief Executive Officer and ensure that the pending dues are paid.”
