Nizamabad: In a shocking case, bodies of Covid victims got swapped due to the negligence of Government General Hospital authorities here on Friday.
Narsubhai of Gayatrinagar and Bibi, a resident of Islampura Colony in Nizamabad city, died due to Covid-19 at GGH hospital. After packing the dead bodies, the GGH staff unknowingly handed over Bibi’s body to Narsubhai’s family members who performed the last rites as per Hindu tradition.
However, Bibi’s family members while performing the funeral, noticed that they were given the body of a Hindu woman who was identified as Narsubhai. Agitated relatives of both the victims staged a protest even as the hospital authorities tried to pacify them. GGH superintendent Dr Prathimaraj was not available for comment.
