Bodies of two missing students recovered from Godavari

Bodies of two more students drowned in river Godavari were recovered by expert swimmers. In all, five students drowned yesterday when they entered water to take photographs.

Kothagudem: The bodies of two engineering students of the five students, who went missing in river Godavari on Friday, have been recovered.

The search operations that were halted after sunset on Friday resumed on Saturday. An expert swimmer Kakaku Prasad retrieved bodies of Teja Gnana Sai and Pasam Satish Kumar at Gundala of Yetpaka mandal in Polavaram district of Andhra Pradesh.


It might be noted that Pasam Satish Kumar (19) of Madanapalle, Chittoor district, Teja Gnana Sai (19) of Uyyuru and Chanduri Deepak of Kalidindi in Krishna district, Gaddam Harshavardhan of Vizianagaram and Charugulla Srikar (21) of Bhadrachalam pursuing their B Tech at SRM University, Amaravati; Daggupati Navadeep (19) of Uyyuru and Podicheti Abhiram (19) of Bhadrachalam, pursuing their B Tech at KL University, Vijayawada in AP visited Bhadrachalam on Thursday to offer prayers at Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam in view of Telugu New Year Ugadi.

After taking photos on the riverbed at Veleru in Kukunoor mandal the students, except Deepak, entered the water to take a bath and went missing while doing so. Harshavardhan managed to swim back to safety on the banks, while the remaining five went missing.

The bodies of Srikar, Abhiram and Navadeep were recovered by Friday evening. Bodies of Sai and Satish Kumar shifted to Bhadrachalam Area Hospital. The incident has caused a pall of gloom descend on the temple town Bhadrachalam as the student’s’ Ugadi pilgrimage turned tragic.
