Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar on Thursday urged the employees to be prepared to face challenges from private companies in the coal industry in future.

Participating in the SCCL’s Formation Day celebrations, he said the employees should work for the development of the company since many changes were taking place in coal mining.
Sridhar said the company has a bright future for another 100 years if employees work with focus and discipline. Many government organisations have come up in the last 100 years in the country and later closed down due to losses, he pointed out. “Singareni, however, has been growing for the last 13 decades and has been progressing better than many giant government organisations and is attracting everyone’s attention. Overcoming Covid obstacles, Singareni was surging ahead to achieve record 68 million tonnes of coal production and 400 million cubic meters over burden removal targets. This financial year, Singareni is all set to achieve record breaking profits,” he said.

From the prestigious Naini coal block taken up in Odisha, the company expects 10 million tonnes of coal production from next financial year. In the next days, 30 million tonnes of production will be achieved from Newpatrapada and Naini coal block in Odisha, Sridhar said.

With 10 new mines scheduled to start in the next three years, the company would achieve 100 million tonnes of yearly production and the yearly turnover would touch Rs.40,000 crore, Sridhar said, adding that Singareni with more than 100 years of mining experience was taking up business expansion for a bright future.

Stating that facing problems and achieving targets was being done systematically, he said in the last seven years, the work culture seen here will not be there in any other company and because of this, the company was achieving profits.

Right from top officials to lower rank employees, everyone worked with zeal and placed the company at the top, he added.

Meanwhile Finance Minister T Harish Rao, in a tweet, praised the SCCL employees, particular the miners who work in pitch dark conditions but provide light to the world. He congratulated the company on its foundation day.
