Hyderabad: “A woman extraordinaire”- this phrase suits Jayasree Tiruchirapally very well. Hailing from a middle-class family, most of the parents would want their kids to focus on studies, and it was the same way with Jaya. She pursued her PhD from JNTU Hyderabad and earned a gold medal from Kakatiya University making her family proud.
Later, Jaya moved to Canada and started working for a pharmaceutical company, but this was not what she wanted. She knew her calling for jewellery and focused on silver jewellery making. It was her artistic background since childhood that drove her into designing jewellery under the brand Bandhanemporio and got them manufactured through skilled and experienced craftsmen in India.
“Creativity is something which attracts many, though I work a 9 to 5 job, my heart always thrives for creativity. I have worked hard to fulfill my dream, and always aimed at giving more employment to women who want to be independent,” says Jaya, an active member of women empowerment groups like WINGS, TACA and TCA in Toronto, Canada.
Bandhanemporio has various collections in 92.5 pure silver jewellery ranging from temple jewellery to Moissanite Polki and diamond finish (inspired from heritage and architecture). The brand focusses more on vibrant, ethnic and statement silhouettes, a fusion of artistic styles from North to South India.
She counts celebrities like Priyamani, Sreemukhi, Rashmi Gautham, Vithika Sheru, Raashi Khanna, Anushka Shetty, Nabha Natesh, Nivetha Pethuraj and many more from Telugu film industry among her clients.
Jaya believes in sustainable fashion. “I feel investing money on right things will always help. When it comes to jewellery, everyone can’t afford gold, but silver is something which is affordable,” says the mother of two.
“Each design at Bandhanemporio is handcrafted with love and care. The limited designs make it special and we make sure it brings a smile on your face. We make opulent statement jewellery and also customise as per client requirements. Each design is made in small batches and we do not mass produce,” sings off Jaya.
