Hyderabad: Former MLA Balka Suman has charged the Congress government with turning the police into a private army to harass BRS leaders. He said the Jubilee Hills police registered false cases against BRSV president Gellu Srinivas Yadav’s wife Swetha under attempt-to-murder charges.

Addressing mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Suman countered the Hyderabad police clarification on allegations that the police registered attempt-to-murder charges against Swetha, a housewife. He said the notices issued by the police to Swetha clearly mention Section 109 (1) of BNS, which pertains to attempt to murder and deliberately misleading the public.

The former MLA accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of directing police to slap false cases on BRS activists even for social media posts, while shielding Congress workers who were attacking BRS leaders.

BRS leader Manne Krishank cautioned that the Congress government will bring a bad reputation to the entire police department by making them lie. “Now, will the Hyderabad City Police official handle apologise to KT Rama Rao for their false statement, or the CM’s Office who forced the police department to tweet this?” he asked.
